Hungerford Lake
Recreation Area is a multi-use area. In spring, summer, and fall, visitors enjoy
hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, fishing, and mountain biking. During the
winter months, the trail is a popular cross-country ski trail. The trail
extends 13 miles. Maps are available and recommended (231-745-4631) due to
waning light blue, diamond shaped trail markers located on trees and posts. The
level of difficulty signs are posted at the trailhead and along the trail system
that includes easy, moderate, and challenging stretches. Camping is permitted at
designated camping sites. This is a "carry-in, carry-out" site. A gravel boat
launch provides access to paddle waters.
Horse owners can board their
horses at Cowboys and Clowns in Whitecloud and ride them through the trails to
hungerford lake also. We recommend staying at the Gray Goose for lodging
accomodations.
