Hess Lake Vacation Rentals is going “green”. We support Eco-Tourism and a sustainable world by using non-intrusive, high quality, eco-friendly products and services at our vacation rentals.

Hess Lake Rentals has made a life-long commitment to environmental responsibility. Being environmentally responsible is not a one day job. It is a commitment and one that we are dedicated to for life. Every month, new products and practices are introduced to commitment to be more eco-friendly, furthering our vision to reduce our impact on the environment. Of course, all the while we protect the high quality hotel experience our guests expect.

Here's just a few of Hess Lake Vacation Rentals efforts:

• Install EnergyStar compliant compact fluorescent light bulbs

• Switch to a minimum 20% post consumer content bath tissue

• Switch to a minimum 10% post consumer content facial tissue

• More extensive use of electronic documentation and records

• Eliminate waste by utilizing 2 sided copying and printing

• Current use of low flow faucet aerators and preventative maintainence of drips and leaks

• Replace (over time) existing appliances with EnergyStar compliant units

• Add renewable energy pellet burning stoves to our larger units

• Currently use Energystar complicate washer and dryer for laundry services

• Use of refillable guest amenities

• Eliminated use of chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides and aerosols.

• Utilize buffer strips around all waterways and adhering to principles of sound environmental stewardships.

• Participation in roadside and waterway cleanup projects.

• Participation in the planting of 300 tree seedlings in 2008.

While we have not yet obtained any official “Green Seal” certification, it is a lengthily process, we our taking the necessary steps to make our stay on earth a positive one.

The efforts above will be implemented over the coming year; many are already in use, as money permits.
